Andhra Pradesh government will soon allocate a land for the new cricket stadium in Vishakapatnam.

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) will be developing a giant cricket stadium along with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Visakhapatnam. This will be the second cricket stadium in the city of Vizag. The newly proposed stadium is set to have facilities on the lines of the newly constructed Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Around 300 crore rupees budget has been allocated for this newly proposed world class stadium in Vishakhapatnam.

Andhra Pradesh Information and Technology Minister Gudivada Amarnath informed that the Andhra Pradesh Government under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will also allocate a feasible land for the facility. Officials have suggested a few locations for the ground but the final decision is yet to be taken. The Andhra Pradesh government has also decided to appoint Indian wicket-keeper batter KS Bharat as Group I officer in the state. KS Bharat hails from Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam is his hometown.

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister G Amarnath also informed that the Andhra Pradesh government will be allotting 1000 Sq. Yards land for the upcoming cricket facility in the state. KS Bharat was rewarded for making his test debut earlier this year. KS Bharat was also part of India’s World Test Championship final squad that took Australia at The Oval in England. Bharat has played 5 test matches this year and he was a regular member of the Indian test squad.

KS Bharat talked about the success he had in international cricket and said, “I have started playing cricket since the age of 9. My love for the game always remains the same. I am grateful that I chose cricket. I would put all my efforts into making the country proud.” Bharat also thanked the cricket authorities he represented for the success. Bharat thanked the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) for their continuous support.

Currently, VDCA Stadium a.k.a. Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy Cricket Stadium hosts cricket games in Visakhapatnam. The current stadium was established in 2003 with a capacity of 25,000. VDCA Stadium hosted its first-ever international game in the year 2005 between India and Pakistan. MS Dhoni's maiden ODI century (148) came in the same match. Since then, 10 ODIs, 3 T20Is, and 2 Test matches have been played at the VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam.
