Adam Zampa and Josh Inglis are expected to play a part in the ODI series against India.

The Australian Cricket Team have faced a massive blow ahead of the first ODI against the Indian Cricket Team. Two of their key players in Adam Zampa and Josh Inglis will miss the opening match of the series, to be played on 19th October in Perth.

Adam Zampa will be missing the game due to paternity reasons, while Inglis has not recovered from a calf strain. In his place, Josh Philippe has been added to the team and will be taking over the keeping duties. This will be the first time that he will be keeping the wickets in the ODIs.

The reports in ESPNCricinfo confirmed that Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the second game as well but Australia will have cover in Alex Carey, who is playing a Sheffield Shield match as part of his Ashes preparation. The keeper-batter will miss the first game and will join the team in Adelaide.

Australia are hopeful that Josh Inglis will be fit for the third ODI in Sydney. He is still recovering from a calf injury, which forced him to miss the New Zealand tour. He got injured during the running session in Perth recently.

For Zampa too, Australia are confident that the leg-spinner will play the last two games. His wife Harriet is in the late stages of pregnancy and with the due date not far, he opted to miss the first match.

In place of Zampa, Australia has added Matthew Kuhnemann to the squad for the first ODI. He is expected to play the game in Perth and if that happens, it will be his first ODI in three years.

The reports also claimed that Cameron Green will be playing the first two games only and will miss the third in Sydney to play a Shield game in Perth that starts on October 28. He won’t be bowling in the series and will increase his workload in the domestic circuit ahead of the Ashes 2025-26.

The ODI series between Australia and India kick starts from 19th October. The last two games will be played on October 23 and 25 in Adelaide and Sydney respectively.
