Afghanistan will tour Bangladesh for a 3-match ODI series starting 5th July, 2023.

Rashid Khan has been named in the 15-member Afghanistan squad announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh which begins July 5 onwards. Rashid was part of Afghanistan's third ODI against Sri Lanka after missing the first two due to a lower-back injury.

Rashid Khan was rested by the Afghanistan Cricket Board for the one-off Test against the Bangladesh side, which they lost by a record 546 runs, the third-largest margin of defeat by runs in Test history.

The talented leggie has played 87 ODIs for Afghanistan and picked 163 wickets with the best bowling figures of 7/18. In 80 T20Is, he has 129 wickets and in 5 Tests, he had 34 wickets.

On the other hand, leg-spinner Izharulhaq Naveed, who shined in the last Big Bash League (BBL) tournament, has earned his maiden call-up to the Afghanistan side. However, left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad, who starred for Gujarat Titans this IPL 2023 season, missed out.

Six more young players namely, Shahidullah, Zia-ur-Rehman, Wafadar Momand, Mohammad Saleem and Sayed Shirzad are also included in the squad. These players share three ODI appearances between them.

Not only this, but the board has also named reserves for the future ODIs and the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Notably, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Darwish Rasooli are among the ten players to be named to the reserves list.
