Rashid Khan to lead as Afghanistan announce strong 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2025

Afghanistan are part of Group B in Asia Cup 2025.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2025. Rashid Khan will lead the team in the tournament, in which they are part of Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong.
Afghanistan will play the tournament opener against Hong Kong on September 9 in Abu Dhabi. Later, they will clash with Bangladesh on September 16 and Sri Lanka on September 18. Both games will also take place in Abu Dhabi.
A total of eight teams will participate in Asia Cup 2025, which will be played from September 9 to September 28. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE are the other four teams, who are placed in Group A. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the two venues for the tournament.

Senior members like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Fazalhaq Farooqi are part of Afghanistan squad for the tournament. Darwish Rasooli, Sediqullah Atal, and Allah Ghazanfar are a few youngsters in their squad. They have also named three reserve players.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan will also play a T20I Tri-Series against Pakistan and the UAE ahead of Asia Cup 2025. The series will be played in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7. Afghanistan will aim for their first Asia Cup this year.
