Afghanistan's full schedule for Asia Cup 2025

Afghanistan will play the tournament opener of Asia Cup 2025 against Hong Kong.

Afghanistan have been one of the fastest-growing sides in international cricket in the last 5-6 years. From beating big teams in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to making it to the semi-final in ICC T20 World Cup 2024, they have come a long way. Now they will be looking to dominate in Asia Cup 2025.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday, 26th July, announced the schedule of the 17th edition of the Asia Cup and confirmed that the tournament will be played between September 9 and 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The top eight Asian sides will feature in the competition, with two groups having four teams each. Afghanistan are in Group B with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE are in Group A. There will be a total of 19 T20Is in this tournament.

Asia Cup 2025 will be played in T20I format, which will benefit the teams preparing for ICC T20 World Cup next year. Afghanistan are part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, and this tournament will be great preparation going forward.

Full schedule of Afghanistan for the Asia Cup 2025

Afghanistan are slated to feature in the tournament’s opener, which will be against Hong Kong on September 9. They will have a long break of around one week before their second game of the group stage, which will be on September 16 against Bangladesh, while their final group stage game is against Sri Lanka on September 18.

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka– 18th September 

If they reach super four stage then they will be playing three games.

Sep 23: A2 svs B1 

Sep 24: A1 vs B2 

Sep 25: A2 vs B2 

Sep 26: A1 vs B1

Afghanistan are not the minnows anymore, and they have the potential to win Asia Cup 2025. Rashid Khan will be leading the Afghans in the tournament. They have already given tough times to all the subcontinent sides in recent times and beaten every team except India. So we can expect them to go deep in the tournament.
