Ajinkya Rahane scored 12 centuries for team India in 83 test matches.

India’s middle order batter Ajinkya Rahane made a roaring comeback in the Indian test team in World Test Championship Final at The Oval against Australia. Rahane ended up as the top scorer for Team India in the first inning and scored 89. He also had a decent stand with Virat Kohli in the second inning. Now, for the West Indies tour, Rahane has been named as vice-captain of Team India. With a great Indian Premier League season Rahane backed up his selection in the Indian test squad. Ajinkya Rahane has praised Rohit Sharma for his leadership skills and said Rohit allows players to play with the freedom that a player requires to support his game.

Rahane praises Rohit Sharma

Praising his captain, Ajinkya Rahane said, “WTC Final was the first game where I played under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Rohit gives freedom to all the players and those are good traits of a great captain. In the IPL CSK gave me freedom. As a player when you have been given a role, you try to fulfill it. Before this, in the IPL my role was to be an anchor but CSK team management gave me the freedom and they wanted me to play my natural game. I am a natural stroke player”. Ajinkya Rahane played in his unusual style for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023.

Ajinkya Rahane also added that he has worked on his batting. He said, “I had a good IPL and domestic season. I have grown in confidence as a batter but in the past one and a half years I have also worked a lot on my fitness. I have worked on a few aspects of my batting. At the moment I am enjoying my cricket. I am not thinking too much about the future. For now, every match is important for me”. Ajinkya Rahane has played 83 tests for India and scored 5066 runs at an average of 38.96 with 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries.
