Akash Deep dismissed Ben Duckett in first innings of The Oval test.
Indian pacer Akash Deep has opened up on his conversation with England opener Ben Duckett after he dismissed him in first innings of The Oval test. The fifth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team was a thrilling one, where the Shubman Gill-led side snatched a victory by just six runs on day five.
On day two of the match, Akash dismissed Duckett to provide the first breakthrough to the visitors in the first innings. Notably, England openers Zak Crawley and Duckett etched an opening stand of 92 runs and dominated Indian bowlers in the clash, before Akash finally broke their partnership.
After dismissing Duckett for 43 runs off 38 balls, the Indian pacer celebrated by punching the air and wrapped his hand around Duckett’s shoulder to exchange some words. KL Rahul eventually pulled him away. However, his send-off was criticised by commentators, and even umpire Ahsan Raza warned him after the incident.

You miss, I hit. Not always will you win. This time, I win: Akash Deep reveals conversation with Ben Duckett
During a chat with Revsportz, the Bengal pacer revealed that Duckett told him earlier in the match that he won’t be able to dismiss him. He also said that his conversation with the England opener after dismissing him was in a good spirit.
“I have a good record against Duckett and have got him out a few times. On that day, he was trying to throw me off my line and length and had played a number of unconventional shots. That’s when he said to me that it was his day and I will not be able to get him out,” he said.
“We were defending a modest score and wickets were critical. When I got him out, I said to him: ‘You miss, I hit. Not always will you win. This time, I win’. It was a continuation of what he was saying to me, and it was all done in good spirit,” he added.
Meanwhile, Akash captured one wicket each across both innings of The Oval test. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, with nine and eight wickets respectively in the encounter, played a vital role in India’s narrow victory.
Akash showed a wonderful form in the series, picking 13 wickets in three games at an average of 36.46. In the second test at Edgbaston, the 28-year-old picked a ten-wicket haul to become the second Indian bowler after Chetan Sharma to get 10 scalps in a test match in England.
