Then, in a must-win game, India were 17/5 against Zimbabwe when Kapil played one of the most iconic World Cup innings of 175* runs off 138 balls and helped India win the game.
That win gave India huge confidence. In the final, they beat West Indies for the second time in the tournament and lifted their maiden ICC title. They also became only the second nation to win the ICC Cricket World Cup as West Indies had won the first two editions.
