Rayudu won his 6th Indian Premier League title in a 13-year-long career.

Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu bids adieu to his professional cricket career. Considered an underrated batter throughout his cricket career, Rayudu had a ‘fairytale’ end to his playing career. After the IPL Final win, he has now put a full stop to his playing career. The man from Guntur came early in the limelight when he made his debut for Hyderabad at the young age of just 15. Rayudu since then didn’t look back and fought his way through in the Indian Cricket team as well.

He was unlucky to miss out on a few big events like the World Cup but whenever he was given a go, he didn’t disappoint his team. Similarly in the Indian Premier League as well where Rayudu is saying goodbye like a legend in the league.

Rayudu announces retirement

Rayudu tweeted, “It has been an emotional night that culminated in a special IPL win. On that high note, I would like to announce my retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. When I took up the cricket bat as a kid playing with the tennis ball at home, I didn’t imagine the wonderful journey that would follow for three decades”. He said that receiving the Indian team cap in 2013 will be his memory to cherish all his life. Rayudu made his international debut in 2013 against Zimbabwe. He also thanked all the cricket associations he was associated with in his 23-year-long Cricketing journey, which started with Hyderabad.

After ditching the Indian Cricket League, Raydu made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2010 for Mumbai Indians. It is his luck that he is part of the two most successful IPL franchises. First with Mumbai and then with Chennai. He is part of 6 IPL title wins in his 13-year-long IPL career. Rayudu thanked CSK and MI both for giving him the opportunity, “Being a part of Mumbai Indians' first title win in 2013 as well as winning the IPL title with Chennai Super Kings in 2018,21, and 23 are the memories that will stay with me forever”.

Right-hand batter Ambati Rayudu has played 55 ODIs in his international career and has scored 1694 with an outstanding average of 47.05 with 3 centuries and 10 half-centuries. He was dropped just before the World Cup 2019 from the national team for all-rounder Vijay Shankar. Rayudu was disappointed because he was batting well and was scoring runs in the 50 overs format. After that episode, he announced his retirement from international cricket.
