Anshul Kamboj has been added to India squad for the last two tests against England.
Former Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin has heaped praise on pacer Anshul Kamboj ahead of the fourth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team. The encounter will begin on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Seamer Kamboj was added to India’s squad for the last two tests after Nitish Kumar Reddy got ruled out of remainder of the series due to a knee injury. Moreover, pacer Arshdeep Singh is also ruled out of the fourth test in Manchester due to a thumb injury.
Kamboj was part of India A squad in the unofficial test series against England Lions. He took five wickets in two games and also slammed an unbeaten half-century. He is yet to make his India test debut, but has a good record in First-Class (FC) cricket.

Ravi Ashwin lauds Anshul Kamboj
While speaking on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat,’ Ashwin lauded Kamboj and termed him a pacer like Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah. Ashwin also said that Kamboj understands the plans and knows how to execute them.
“The appreciable thing about Anshul is that he understands the plan. I have seen so many fast bowlers if you ask them about the plan, they just say they want to express themselves and enjoy the game,” Ashwin said.
“But Anshul understands plans and also knows how to execute in the middle. It’s not a trait many fast bowlers possess. Zaheer Khan was one of them. He was amazing. In recent times, Jassi (Bumrah) is one player who understands the plans and executes them to perfection. Anshul belongs to that variety,” Ashwin added.
Ashwin also believes that Kamboj will form a strong pace attack with Bumrah and Siraj in the Manchester test.
“He has a very good tappa (right length). I have seen that in the IPL. His wrist position is very good, and he delivers a very upright seam. He never leaves his tappa. With Bumrah and Siraj there, if you are bringing in Anshul Kamboj into the playing XI, I’m telling you, it’s a serious bowling,” he said.
Meanwhile, England have announced their playing XI for the fourth test. They have made just one change in their team. Spinner Liam Dawson has replaced injured Shoaib Bashir in the playing XI. Ahead of the fourth test, Siraj confirmed that Bumrah will be part of the encounter. England lead the five-match series 2-1.
