Rohit Sharma has smashed 297 runs in eight innings against England in the ongoing five-match test series.

After attending the pre-wedding functions of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, India captain Rohit Sharma marked his arrival in Himachal Pradesh for the fifth test against England, but not in Dharamshala. Rohit landed in Bilaspur for the inauguration of the ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ hosted by the Indian sports ministry, which has left sports minister Anurag Thakur speechless.

The fifth test match between India and England will be played at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala from Thursday, 7th March. While the hosts have already clinched the series 3-1 with one game to go, the final test promises to be an exciting contest between the two sides.

Ahead of the fifth test, both India and England have arrived in Dharamshala. However, Rohit Sharma was not with the squad due to his tight schedule. The Indian captain along with head coach Rahul Dravid, landed in Bilaspur to attend the inauguration of the ‘Khel Mahakumbh’ hosted by the Indian sports ministry.

The Khel Mahakumbh will see young athletes showcase their abilities and talents and also help them upgrade their skills. To spread awareness about the event the Indian government had invited Sharma and Dravid.

Meanwhile, sports minister Anurag Thakur was left speechless by Rohit Sharma’s presence for the event amid his tight schedule in recent weeks. Thakur also lavished praise on the Indian skipper during his speech at the event. The sports minister also reported that Rohit took an early morning flight from Delhi to land in Bilaspur by 5:30 AM.

“Rohit Sharma came to Bilaspur from Delhi at 5.30am to inaugurate Khel Mahakumbh. If Rohit wanted, he could’ve refused to come as 5th test starts from 7th March, but he came as he knew India’s future would be here,” said Anurag Thakur.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has arrived in Dharamshala ahead of the upcoming fifth test match against England from 7th March. The 36-year-old traveled in a private helicopter to reach the venue. The final match will be played from March 7-11.
