Arshdeep Singh was included in India’s test squad for England tour but couldn’t make his debut.
Punjab bowling coach Gagandeep Singh has revealed that Arshdeep Singh got impatient after not getting opportunities during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The left-arm pacer, who earned his maiden call-up to the test squad, couldn’t get a chance to make his test debut for India during the five-match tour of England.
Notably, Arshdeep was likely to be part of the playing XI for the fourth test in Manchester. However, he was ruled out of the match after sustaining an injury while training. Later, he was fit ahead of the final test at The Oval, but the team management did not pick him for the match.
However, Arshdeep is a regular for India in T20Is and is the highest wicket-taker for the country with 99 scalps in 63 games so far. He has also represented India in nine ODIs.

Arshdeep Singh was getting impatient during England tour: Punjab bowling coach
While speaking to the Times of India, Punjab bowling coach Gagandeep Singh revealed that he talked with Arshdeep when he was in England. He said that the Indian pacer was getting impatient for not getting a chance in the series.
“A few months ago when he was in England, I spoke to him. He was getting impatient that he was not getting a chance. I just told him, ‘You’ve to wait for your time’,” he said.
“I think they should’ve played him in England because he’s a swing bowler and he’s tall, everything’s good. I don’t know the team combinations, probably the coach (Gautam Gambhir) and captain (Shubman Gill) weren’t confident about him,” he added.
Furthermore, Gagandeep also mentioned a few things that Arshdeep can improve in his bowling.
“He can be a better bowler with more swing and more accuracy. I haven’t seen him in the last few months, but hopefully when I do, I can assess him better. From the recent matches that I have observed, he can work more on line and length, yorker balls, and especially bouncers, which are the more effective deliveries in international cricket,” Gagandeep said.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old pacer has been named in India squad for Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will commence on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). India, the defending champions of the tournament, are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman.
