Arshdeep Singh is yet to make his India debut in whites.
India Cricket Team and England Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for the second test, which will commence on July 2. The encounter will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Ben Stokes-led England lead the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first test by five wickets.
The hosts chased down a mammoth target of 371 runs in the encounter with a stunning 149-run knock by opener Ben Duckett. Pacer Jofra Archer has returned to test cricket after four years and is also part of England’s squad for the second test at Edgbaston.
Hence, it is a big boost for England, who are already short of key pacers like Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson. On the other hand, India are highly likely to make some changes in the bowling unit after their dismal show in the opening game at Headingley, Leeds.
Arshdeep Singh spotted training, Jasprit Bumrah sits out ahead of second test
According to a report in Times of India, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was spotted training ahead of the second test. The left-arm pacer worked closely with bowling coach Morne Morkel during India’s first training session in Birmingham.
Moreover, the reports also revealed that Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna were not part of the training session despite being present at the stadium. Notably, Bumrah has already confirmed that he will not play all five test matches during India’s tour of England 2025.
The right-arm pacer will only feature in three games during the series to manage his workload. Hence, there is a possibility that Arshdeep, who is yet to make his test debut for India, might get included in the playing XI for the second test at Edgbaston.
The 26-year-old has played nine ODI games and 63 T20Is for India, picking 14 wickets and 99 wickets respectively across both formats. He earned his maiden test call-up for the ongoing test tour of England.
