Ashes 2025-26 will start in Perth.
Cricket Australia has announced the schedule for the anticipated men’s 2025-26 Ashes series. The series is set to start in Perth for the first time in more than four decades. The five-match test series will begin on November 21, 2025, at Perth Stadium followed by the second test at Brisbane’s Gabba. The second test will mark the first instance when the iconic ground will host a pink-ball Ashes test.
Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is set to retain the Boxing Day test while the New Year’s test will take place in Sydney. The series will see Adelaide Oval host a daytime Ashes test for the first time since 2013.
Perth to open Ashes series for the first time since 1982
The 2025-26 Ashes will mark the first instance since 1982 when Australia will start their Ashes campaign outside Brisbane. Perth Stadium will host the first test of the series where the visitors are yet to play a game. England’s record in Perth (WACA included) has been miserable historically. The English side registered their last win in Perth way back in 1978. Australia have won the last eight Ashes tests played in Perth.
Cricket Australia hopes that the early schedule release will allow fans to be better equipped to plan their trip. “We have been overrun by requests from fans who want to travel to Australia and watch the 2025-26 Ashes series. It is here, I have urged everyone, to register for priority access to tickets,” Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia’s executive general manager of events and operation said.
