Kuldeep Yadav is yet to play a game in the ongoing England series.

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin lashed out at the Indian Cricket Team management for not playing Kuldeep Yadav in fourth test of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team. He said that the wrist spinner not playing in any of the games is blowing his head away.

One of the most unfortunate players in the Indian squad for the ongoing series against England is Kuldeep Yadav. The wrist spinner has been warming the bench ever since the series started, and this has come as a big surprise for many.

With England preparing flat tracks in the series, it was almost certain that Kuldeep would be there, since he is a genuine wicket-taker. But that hasn’t been the case as the team management has preferred playing Washington Sundar due to his batting capabilities.

Unfortunately, it is our obsession with batting, and looking for those 20-30 extra runs – Ravichandran Ashwin o Kuldeep Yadav’s snub

Indian team management has faced a lot of criticism for not playing Kuldeep in any of the four games. The latest to join the bandwagon is Ravichandran Ashwin, who said that the obsession with batting isn’t allowing wrist spinners to play. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:

“If somebody would have told me that Kuldeep Yadav will not be playing any part in the first four Tests, I would have been very very surprised. Unfortunately, it is our obsession with batting, and looking for those 20-30 extra runs.

“Gone are those days in England, that advantage of 20-30 runs is gone. If your No.7 makes 30 runs, and your No.8 makes 30 runs, you have an extra 60 runs. Earlier that 60 runs used to be very useful, because bowlers used to get help from the pitch.”

Why can’t you consider Kuldeep Yadav? – Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out how Shardul Thakur hasn’t been able to do the right things, questioning team management his place in the team over Kuldeep Yadav. While elaborating on the same, he said:

“If you are only planning to give Shardul Thakur this many overs, and expect 20-30 runs from him. I love Shardul Thakur, I like him a lot, but if this is the usage point, why can’t you consider Kuldeep Yadav? It is just blowing my head away.

“I know it seems against the grain because there are three spinners, but it is not that way, Jadeja is a specialist batter for you now. Washington Sundar is also batting well. When your bowlers can bat so well, why are you not bringing an attacking bowler?” he concluded.
