India and Pakistan to play each other in Kandy on 2nd September for the 3rd match of Asia Cup 2023.

Asia Cup 2023 high-voltage game between India and Pakistan is the most anticipated fixture in cricket this year. After a four-years gap, these two neighbouring countries will be taking each other in an ODI at Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Saturday. Pakistan will be playing their last league encounter in group A of Asia Cup 2023, while India will be opening their campaign against Pakistan on Saturday. Pakistan thrashed Nepal in their opening encounter in Multan, they won the game by a huge margin of 238 runs. Now, according to weather reports, Pallekele's weather might play a spoilsport for fans in the upcoming India vs Pakistan encounter of Asia Cup 2023.

There are high chances of rain because of the delayed monsoon in Sri Lanka. Kandy also saw a bit of rain on Thursday during the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh encounter and is expected to see a few spells of rain once again on Saturday. It will be a 3 PM start, radar predicting the start might be delayed as Kandy will witness showers around 3 PM. Later in the evening, after 8 p.m, there are high chances of a long spell of rain in Kandy until 11 p.m. Wet weather will be a cause of concern for the Sri Lanka Cricket Board throughout the entire tournament, as Sri Lanka will be hosting nine games in the tournament.

The precipitation index shows there is a 60% chance of rain throughout the day, with several instances of showers and thunderstorms. Rain is expected to be there on Friday at midnight as well. Cloud covers will be there throughout the day to help seamers in the heavy weather conditions if any amount of play is possible on Saturday. The humidity will hover around 95–98% throughout the day. The temperature is likely to remain on the cooler side, but extreme humidity will trouble everyone. The temperature will remain around 22–23 °C during the entire course of 8 hours after the scheduled start time of 3 p.m.

There was a bit of interruption during the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh game on Thursday as flash showers passed through Kandy. The weather remained overcast and cloudy, but no big spell of rain was there to interrupt the proceedings after the 16th over in the first innings. Rohit Sharma-led team India are ready to take on their arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday and begin their preparations for World Cup 2023 in India. India, under Rohit Sharma, became the 2018 Asia Cup champions when the tournament was played in a 50-overs format in Dubai. India defeated Bangladesh in the final.
