India will face Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday, 17th September in Colombo.

India will take on Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023 final at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. India and Sri Lanka are the two most successful teams in the Asia Cup history as they both got a major share of success. India won the 50-overs edition 6 times, while Sri Lanka were crowned champion for 5 times in the history. Both these teams also share a 1-1 record in the T20I edition as well. Interestingly, India are the defending champions of the ODI edition winning in 2018, while the Lankans are the defending champions of the T20I edition winning in 2022. As they prepare to take on each other in Colombo, the persistent rain threat looms large.

According to Weather.com, In Colombo, there is 80% chance of rain during the game. Only one game so far in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka was played without any interruption. The final Super 4 game between India vs Bangladesh saw no rain delays or interruptions during the action. But in the Final on Sunday, a rain threat looms large as there are predictions of showers during the toss, and might delay the start of the action. Thunderstorms are predicted in the weather forecast for Sunday in the Sri Lankan capital city. 

Despite the continuous rain threat due to the delayed monsoon in Sri Lanka, the tournament has reached its end. Only one game in the tournament got washed out and the groundsman should be awarded for their rigorous work. The temperature is likely to stay around 25-29’C with 29’C at the time of the toss and then going down to 25 at the end of the proceedings. Humidity will stay around 90% throughout the day. Spinners are running riot against Batters and Final may also follow the same trend. 

India qualified for the final after defeating Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Super 4 while Sri Lanka won against Pakistan and Bangladesh. India suffered a close defeat against Bangladesh playing without their main players in the XI and went in with 5 changes. Both teams have also suffered injury concerns just a day before the final as Axar Patel is likely to be ruled out of the final and the Indian camp have called in Washington Sundar in Colombo. Sri Lanka have also called in Sahan Arachchige in the squad replacing their ace spinner Maheesh Theekshana.
