Asia Cup 2023: Points Table, Most Runs, Most Wickets After Super Four Match 5, PAK vs SL
Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in a last-ball thriller to qualify for Asia Cup 2023 final.
With so much rain around Asia Cup 2023 had lost a bit of its charm, but a battle for the Asia Cup 2023 Final between Pakistan and Sri Lankan in the Super 4 round provided great entertainment to the fans. In a last-ball thriller, Sri Lanka prevailed through a tough battle against Men in Green Pakistan at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama’s 100 runs stand for the 3rd wicket gave Sri Lanka the ticket to the Asia Cup 2023 final and take on Team India on Sunday.
Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Kusal Mendis played a match-winning knock of 91 runs to knock Pakistan out of the tournament and also became the leading run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2023. Charith Asalanka also contributed with his brilliant unbeaten 49 runs cameo to win the game for Sri Lanka. Batting First, Pakistan posted 252 runs in 42 overs as due to rain the game was curtailed to 42 overs only. Iftikhar Ahmed (47) and Mohammad Rizwan (86*) had a 108-run stand to put Pakistan in a comfortable position. Sri Lankan batters showed grit against Pakistan’s pace attack and snatched the game chasing 252 runs (DLS method) under lights on a tricky wicket.

Sri Lanka will be going through the next round and play India in the Asia Cup 2023 final at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo on 17th September. Sri Lanka will be finishing 2nd in the points table in the Super 4 round with 4 points in their 3 games. Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh and Pakistan while they lost to India. Pakistan and Bangladesh are officially out of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Pakistan finished their Asia Cup campaign with only 2 points in the Super 4 round. They won against Bangladesh while lost to India and Sri Lanka. India had already qualified for the tournament final by winning the first two games in this round against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will be taking on India on Friday to play their final game in the tournament.

Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Kusal Mendis has overtaken everyone to become the leading run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2023. Mendis played a magnificent knock of 91 runs against Pakistan to take his team home and play the final against India in Colombo on Sunday. Mendis now has 253 runs in 5 innings. Mendis' partner in crime, Sadeera Samarwickrama has had a wonderful Asia Cup campaign so far. Sadeera is now the 2nd in the list with 215 runs in 5 innings. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam is 3rd with 207 runs in 4 innings. Pakistan wicket-keeper-batsman Mohammed Rizwan also had a great game with his 86 unbeaten runs knock that puts him 4th with 195 runs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is 5th with 194 runs.

His teammate Dunith Wellalage is now the third leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 10 wickets in 5 games. Dunith got one wicket against Pakistan. Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi ended the campaign with 10 wickets to his name.
