Asia Cup 2023: ACC and SLC announce prize money for Colombo, Pallekele ground staff

ACC President Jay Shah made the announcement of prize money for Asia Cup 2023 ground staff on Twitter.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have declared a cash prize of US$50,000 for the curators and ground staff in Colombo and Pallekele, as stated by ACC President Jay Shah on Sunday.

Out of the 13 matches held during the Asia Cup 2023, 9 were hosted in Sri Lanka, while the remaining four took place in Multan and Lahore, Pakistan.

The Asia Cup 2023, which is taking place in Sri Lanka, was a tournament filled with thrilling cricket matches and unpredictable weather conditions. In the midst of these intense games and frequent rain interruptions, a group of often unsung heroes emerged - the ground staff at Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium.

Despite the final match of the Asia Cup, featuring India and Sri Lanka, being delayed by 40 minutes due to rain and a soaked playing field, the dedicated ground staff managed to prepare the ground despite the heavy rainfall.

Jay Shah, the Honourary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the chairman of ACC, commended the hard work of these groundsmen.
