Asia Cup 2025 will witness a battle among eight teams for the title.

The 17th edition of the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Men’s Asia Cup is all set to begin on 9th September, 2025. This will be the third T20I edition of the tournament and will work as preparatory campaign for teams ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year. The tournament, which will see eight teams battle, will see the summit clash on September 28.

Eight teams have been divided into two groups – A and B. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are placed in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong are clubbed in Group B.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are two venues that will host all the matches of Asia Cup 2025. A total of 19 games will be played during the tournament with Afghanistan and Oman locking horns in the tournament opener on September 9.

Notably, this will be the third time that the Asia Cup will be played in the T20I format. Previously, the 2016 and 2022 editions were played in T20I format.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1984, India have won the most number of titles (8) in the Asia Cup history. Sri Lanka are next with six titles in their kitty. Pakistan have won the tournament on two occasions.

Asia Cup 2025 Teams

Eight teams are part of the Asia Cup 2025. They are India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. All these teams are divided into two groups. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE are placed in Group A. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong are part of Group B.

Asia Cup 2025 Venues

Despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) being the hosts, Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the UAE due to political conflict between India and Pakistan. Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi are the two venues which will host the entire tournament.

Asia Cup 2025 Format

The tournament will see a double round-robin format, where eight teams have been divided into two groups of four teams each. All four teams in the same group will face other three teams once in the group stage before the top two teams from each group proceed to the Super Four round, where they will face other three teams once.

At the end of Super Four round, the top two teams in the points table will then make it to the finals, which will be played on September 28.
