Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in 5th match of Asia Cup 2025.
Sri Lanka crushed Bangladesh by six wickets in the fifth match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on Saturday, September 13. The Charith Asalanka-led side started the tournament on a high and moved to second spot in the points table of Group B.
Sri Lanka had a target of 140 runs in the match. Opener Pathum Nissanka (50) and Kamil Mishara (46*), who batted at three, helped the team to clinch an easy victory with their brilliant knocks.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Bangladesh faced a big blow in the first two overs, losing openers Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon for ducks. Key batters Towhid Hridoy (8) and Mahedi Hasan (9) got out for single digits, with Bangladesh reeling at 53/5 in ten overs.
Later, Jaker Ali (41) and Shamim Hossain (42) helped the team to make a comeback with their unbeaten stand of 86 runs, taking the team total to 139/5. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga picked two wickets while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera took one wicket each.

Litton Das, who scored 28 runs in the encounter, has become the leading run-scorer in Asia Cup 2025 with 87 runs. Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal (73) and Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris (66) are next on the list. Afghanistan all-rounder Azamatullah Omarzai and Hong Kong batter Babar Hayat take the fourth and fifth spots respectively with 53 runs each.
