Match 9 of Asia Cup 2025, BAN vs AFG, took place on Monday, 16th September.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh clashed in the ninth match of Asia Cup 2025 on Tuesday, September 16. Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by eight runs in the clash to keep their hopes alive of qualifying for the Super Four stage. Afghanistan failed to chase down a 155-run target in the encounter, getting bowled out for 146 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman clinched three wickets, while Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain picked two wickets each to power Bangladesh to a win. Earlier in the game, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Saif Hassan (30) and Tanzid Hasan (52) made an opening stand of 63 runs to give a decent start to their innings.

However, other batters failed to capitalise on the good start. Bangladesh finished with 154/5 on the scoreboard with Towhid Hridoy adding crucial 26 runs. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad scalped two wickets each. Azmatullah Omarzai clinched one wicket.

With their victory in the match, Bangladesh grab the second spot in the group B points table with four points and Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.270. Afghanistan occupy the third spot with two points and NRR of 2.150 following their defeat in the clash. Sri Lanka hold the top spot with four points and NRR of 1.546, while Hong Kong languish at the last spot with 0 points.

In group A, India have already qualified for the Super Four round and grab the top spot with four points. With two points each, Pakistan and UAE are placed in second and third spots respectively. Oman languish at the fourth spot with 0 points.
