India thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets in their first game of the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025.
Much like the league stage, the Indian Cricket Team started the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025 with a dominating win. They thumped the Pakistan Cricket Team by six wickets at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Sunday, 21st September.
The change in the batting order worked for Pakistan as Fakhar Zaman (15), who opened the innings, came out all guns blazing with Sahibzada Farhan (58), adding 21 runs for the opening stand. Fakhar perished to a controversial dismissal, but that didn’t stop Farhan as he kept attacking Indian bowlers, hitting a brilliant fifty.
He got support from Saim Ayub (21) as the duo added 72 runs for the second wicket. But, India made a strong comeback after that as not only did they restrict runs but also took wickets at regular intervals, leaving Pakistan at 115 for four.
Mohammad Nawaz (21) and Faheem Ashraf (20*) in the end scored some crucial runs as Pakistan ended up scoring 171 for five. For India, Shivam Dube picked up two wickets.
In the chase, Abhishek Sharma (74) took India off to a flying start with the bat, hitting Shaheen Afridi for six on the first ball. Soon after that, Shubman Gill (47) joined him too as the Punjab boys were all over the Pakistan bowlers, adding 69 runs in the powerplay.
Both batters made a mockery of the opposition bowlers, hitting all of them in all the corners of the park. The duo added 105 runs for the opening partnership before Gill departed just three runs away from his fifty. Pakistan made a slight comeback with quick wickets. But, Tilak Varma (30*) played a brilliant hand as India sealed the game with six wickets.
