Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in their second game of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025.
Pakistan Cricket Team registered their first win of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025. They beat the Sri Lanka Cricket Team by five wickets at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to keep their hopes alive for the final.
Sri Lanka had a worst possible start with the bat as they lost in-form Kusal Mendis for a golden duck on the second ball of the innings. This didn’t let the Island nation settle at all as soon after that, they lost their other in-form batters in Pathum Nissanka (8), Kusal Perera (15), Charith Asalanka (20) and Dasun Shanaka for low scores with Pakistan asserting their authority.
Sri Lankan were left reeling at 80 for six. However, with the team under pressure, Kamindu Mendis (50) slammed a fifty under tough circumstances and give fans something to cheer about.
Wanindu Hasaranga (15) and Chamika Karunaratne (17*) provided a bit of support to him as Sri Lanka posted 133 for eight. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi picked three wickets.
In the chase, Pakistan were off to a flying start with Sahibzada Farhan (24) and Fakhar Zaman (17) adding 45 runs inside power play. However, after that, Sri Lanka made a strong comeback and picked wickets in a flash, reducing the opposition to 80 for five with spinners spinning web around the batters.
It was then that Hussain Talat (32*) and Mohammad Nawaz (38*) joined hands and took the attack back to Sri Lanka. They added 58 runs for the partnership as Pakistan chased the target with five wickets in hand.

After the Super Four match 3, SL vs PAK, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side is still at the top of the points table with a superior net run rate. Pakistan after the win are at second followed by Bangladesh at three. Sri Lanka are last with no wins.
