Wasim Akram elaborated on a few issues in Pakistan team.

Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has shared his predictions for the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2025. The cricketer-turned-commentator also pointed out a few issues in the Pakistan team before the high-octane clash.

India and Pakistan are set to clash in their second match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The blockbuster clash will be played on Sunday, September 14, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Both teams kicked off their campaign in Asia Cup 2025 with a brilliant victory. India outplayed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine wickets, after bowling them out for just 57 runs. Pakistan defeated Oman by 93 runs after bundling them for just 67 runs against a target of 161 runs.

During a conversation on Telecom Asia Sports, Pakistan bowling legend Akram said that India looks strong, but Pakistan are confident after winning the recent tri-series against the UAE and Afghanistan.

“I think it will be a competitive match. Yes, India are a good and strong team and if you compare these two teams player-wise India look strong, but I think Pakistan will have the confidence of winning the tri-series and will give a good competition,” he said.

Akram, who is also one of the commentators in the Asia Cup 2025, feels that Mohammad Haris’ batting slot will be a big worry for the Men in Green. Moreover, he also pointed out a few issues in Pakistan’s bowling unit.

“For me they have a few problems, like Mohammad Haris is not in the best of form but he is not playing at his usual number as opener. It’s tough on Haris… it’s next to impossible for an opener to bat in the middle order. You cannot have two part-time bowlers as a fifth bowling option. If you have two part-timers, then the team will attack them,” he said.

The 59-year-old added that Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy will pose a strong challenge to Pakistan batters.

“Kuldeep and Varun are both good. It’s tough to read them. Kuldeep was very accurate and lethal the other day. Bumrah is top of the ladder and is being managed well by India. So credit to bowlers of this era because due to T20 cricket there is more pressure on them,” Akram added.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan are clubbed in Group A in Asia Cup 2025. Oman and the UAE are the other two teams in the same group. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Super Four round. Hence, India and Pakistan are expected to face each other once again during the tournament.
