The second AUS vs ENG test will begin on December 4 at The Gabba in Brisbane.

The second test between Australia and England in the Ashes 2025-26 series will start on Thursday (4 December, 2025), with the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane playing host to what should be a highly entertaining match. With Australia taking a 1-0 lead by blowing away England in the first test in Perth, the visitors will be itching to make a strong comeback in this second test.

Steve Smith is expected to keep his place as the Australia captain for the second test, even though Pat Cummins is now fit enough to come back into the starting XI. Australia, however, will miss fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott for the Brisbane test, with Brendan Doggett seemingly set to keep his place as one of the main fast bowlers for the Aussies after his impressive debut in the first test.

There shouldn’t be too many changes to the Australia side that picked up a decisive win over England in the first test. However, it remains to be seen whether Travis Head keeps his place as the opener for Australia after his blistering innings in the second innings of the first test. Also, Usman Khawaja has been ruled out of the game as he is yet to recover from back spasm.

Coming to England lineup, Will Jacks has replaced injured Mark Wood in the XI, while rest of the XI is same that featured in the previous test.
