First AUS vs ENG test commenced on Friday, November 21.

The hype of the Ashes 2025-26 lived up to the expectation as day one of the Perth test was nothing short of brilliant. As many as 19 wickets fell on day one and England ended the day on a high with the ball despite having a bad day with the bat.

England opted to bat after winning the toss, but it was a poor start for them as Zak Crawley fell for a duck in the first over. Ollie Pope (46) and Ben Duckett (21) showed some grit with the bat but it was only a matter of time as Mitchell Starc was at his best with the ball.

He was putting England under pressure but despite that Harry Brook (52) kept his calm and hit a vital fifty, taking the team past 100 runs. Jamie Smith (33) also played a key role as England crawled their way to 172 runs. For Australia, Starc took a seven-fer.

Australia had a similar kind of response with the bat as England did. Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson were all over the Australian top-order. They were left reeling at 31 for four as they looked clueless against English pacers.

Travis Head (21), Cameron Green (24) and Alex Carey (26) had starts but England captain Ben Stokes was at his best. He picked a fifer in just six overs to rattle the opposition. At stumps on day one, Australia were 123 for nine, trailing by 49 runs.
