Australia hammered Scotland 3-0 in the three-match T20I series.

Australia have started their tour of the UK with a comprehensive 3-0 thrashing of Scotland in a three-T20I series.

The Mitchell Marsh-led Australian side beat Richie Berrington’s home team in all three games at the Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh. Travis Head, Josh Inglis and Cameron Green were the Man of the Match award winners in the three T20Is respectively.

From Scotland, Australia will now travel to England, where they will take on the hosts in three T20Is and five ODIs.

Australian players can’t stop laughing looking at the trophy

Meanwhile, a funny incident happened following Australia’s T20I series win over Scotland. The Australian cricketers were left in splits after closely looking at the trophy they received for winning the T20I series against Scotland.

Captain Mitchell Marsh was handed a special bowl as the trophy for clinching the series. This bowl is a Scottish souvenir that holds whiskey through which traditionally everyone takes a sip.

Marsh was surprised to see a small “cup” being handed to him. As he showed it to his teammates, they all, too, were left amazed and burst into laughter.

With Australia missing several players from their T20 World Cup 2024 squad – due to retirement, axing, and injuries – this series provided others an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents.

The winning captain Marsh said, “Had a great week, had a lot of opportunities with this young team. Guys stepping up at different moments and playing good all round cricket was good to see. It has been fantastic to play at a venue like this, different challenge and this is a good opportunity to thank Scotland and Scottish cricket. We feel that cricket is very popular out here. Would be nice to have all the Scottish people on board with us when we take on England.”
