IND vs AUS: Australia playing XI vs India, 2nd ODI, 2023 – Predicted

Australia will face India in the second ODI on September 24 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

The first ODI between India and Australia didn't go well for the visitors. Apart from a couple of batters, the other Australian batsmen looked out of touch. Then, the opening bowlers were not able to pick the wicket, and then there was not much in the middle-overs.

All in all, it was the performance that one would have expected from Australia ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The visitors will be keen to bounce back in the second game, which is a must-win match for Australia. If they lose, they will also lose the series. And here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for Australia in the second game against India.

IND vs AUS: Australia's Predicted playing XI vs India

1. Mitchell Marsh :

Mitchell Marsh didn't have a great start to this series and was out after hitting a boundary. But everyone is aware of how dangerous he can be when he gets going. India will hope that they can get him early. If not, he can single-handedly take the game away on a small ground like Indore.

2. David Warner :

David Warner was looking pretty good in the first game and scored his 29th ODI fifty. He was looking good for a big score, but unfortunately got out in an attempt to hit a six. But the opener will be keen to complete his unfinished business in the second game and can put pressure straight away on Indian team.

3. Steven Smith :

After a slow start, Steven Smith picked up pace and was looking good before Mohammed Shami had the better of him. Smith scored 41 runs and hit three fours and one six. He has always liked playing against India, irrespective of the format. India will be looking to dismiss him early because he can be a perfect anchor for a big total.

4. Marnus Labuschagne :

Marnus Labuschagne is another important middle-order player for Australia who got a place in the World Cup at the last moment. He is in good form and scored runs against South Africa in the last series. Marnus got a good start in Mohali for his 39 runs but got out while playing a reverse sweep. He will be a good enough player to bounce back and challenge Indian bowling.

5. Cameron Green :

Cameron Green was another player who looked pretty good but couldn't capitalise on his start and got out after scoring 31 runs. The big right-hander has a big role to play with both the bat and the ball because he is Australia's changeup bowler in the middle-order as well. He has done well against India and will be eager to do something similar.

6. Matthew Short :

Matthew Short is a quality all-rounder who is a replacement for the injured Glenn Maxwell. Short missed out with the bat but bowled pretty well. He bowled his eighth over for 39 runs. He is likely to play in the second game as well, which might be his last chance before Maxwell comes. That will be on his mind, and he will try to make an impact.

7. Josh Inglis (wk) :

Josh Inglis was the reason that Australia could reach a score of 270. He scored a vital 45 off 45, including three fours and two sixes. But he couldn't stay till the end, and Australia ended a few runs short. Inglis showed why Australia rates him so highly and that he can be dangerous for India in the final overs.

8. Marcus Stoinis :

Australia have a long batting lineup that Marcus Stoinis is coming in at No. 8, which shows how balanced this team is. Stoinis is a very important member of the team, with both the bat and the ball. He played a cameo of 29 off 21 but didn't have a great day with the ball. He has started balling with the new ball and is a better bowler now.

9. Pat Cummins (c) :

Pat Cummins had a decent game after recovering from the injury. He bowled his quota of ten overs for 1/44, which shows his match fitness, and with the bat, he played a cameo of 21* off 9, which gave his team some momentum. In the absence of Mitchell Starc, he did a pretty good job and needs to take his team to victory. A good performance is expected from him in the second game.

10. Sean Abbott :

Josh Hazlewood is sitting on the bench, and Sean Abbott is playing, which shows that Australian management trusts Abbott a lot. He has done well for them in recent times and will be looking to do the same. Abbott is an important member of the bowling attack who keeps the batters on the backfoot with his variety. Australia are hoping that he can deliver some good stuff to help them win.

11. Adam Zampa :

Adam Zampa was the most successful bowler for the visitors in the first game. He dismissed both openers and brought Australia back into the game. Zampa is the wicket-taking option for his team and will challenge the Indian batters in the middle-overs. He has done well against India and will be a hurdle to cross for the hosts.
