Australia will lock horns with India in the third and final ODI on September 27 in Rajkot.

Australia haven't had the results that they would have liked in the last couple of ODI series. They lost the five-match series against South Africa 2-3 and now lost both ODIs against India to lose their consecutive series. They are coming off five consecutive ODI defeats, too, just ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The five-time champions will look to end their streak and register a win in the third and final ODI against India. That match will take place on Wednesday at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Australia will field a full-strength team, with some of their seniors coming back. So let's check the predicted playing XI for Australia for the third ODI.

IND vs AUS: Australia's Predicted playing XI vs India

1. Mitchell Marsh :

Mitchell Marsh will be back in the playing XI after missing out on the second ODI. Marsh is a very important member of the team because he can be a true match-winner with both the bat and the ball. Marsh's form will be very important for Australia in World Cup, so they will hope that he can get some runs in the third ODI to help his team win.

2. David Warner :

David Warner is Australia's highest run-scorer in the ongoing series. He has scored half-centuries in both matches but couldn't make it a big one. It looks like a big innings from his bat is just around the corner. Warner can be unleashed in the third ODI, and if it happens, India will be in big trouble.

3. Steven Smith :

Steven Smith missed out on the opportunity in the second ODI, where the batting conditions were brilliant, and got out for a golden duck while trying to hit the ball. But he is too good of a player to fail in consecutive innings. He will be looking to play a good innings in the third game and enter the World Cup with some runs under his belt.

4. Marnus Labuschagne :

Just like Smith, Marnus Labuschagne is another important batter in the middle-order for Australia. With a batting line-up full of power-hitters, Labuschagne plays a perfect anchor role on the side. Australia have plenty of problems with so many batting options, but Labuschagne's presence in the middle assures a temperamental knock from him.

5. Glenn Maxwell :

Glenn Maxwell will also be back in the playing XI, and he will be making his comeback after a while. Maxi missed South Africa tour and didn't play the first two games against India as he was recovering from his injury. But he is fit to go, and Australia wants him to have some game time before the World Cup.

6. Cameron Green :

The big all-rounder didn't have a great game in the previous match, where he conceded over 100 runs in his ten overs and then got run out while batting. But Cameron Green is in Australia's scheme of things for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, and they need him to stay confident and have a good game on Wednesday. His hitting ability and medium-pace bowling can make a difference if he has a good match.

7. Marcus Stoinis :

Australia have the luxury of having a number of genuine all-rounders that can win with both the bat and the ball. Marcus Stoinis is another such match-winner; having played in IPL, he has enough experience playing here and can outperform any player on his day. His hitting ability can't be measured, and he fits the perfect role of a finisher on the team.

8. Josh Inglis (wk) :

Josh Inglis looked good in two ODIs against India. That might be the reason that he might get an edge over Alex Carey as a wicket-keeper batter for the third ODI. Inglis is an aggressive option for Australia, who is a brilliant finisher, and some glimpses were seen in the first ODI game. He can be a tricky customer to handle because he shuffles around his crease to break the rhythm of a bowler.

9. Pat Cummins (c) :

Pat Cummins is expected to return and lead the team. Cummins is also coming off his injury, but he bowled his ten overs in the first ODI and looked good. Cummins is a very important member, and as a captain, he has been exceptional. His spell will be a challenge for the Indians, and he can add some quick runs down the order.

10. Mitchell Starc :

The return of Mitchell Starc will certainly boost the confidence of Australian bowling attack, which looked clueless in the first two games. Starc is among the best pacers and can dismantle the Indian batting-order on his own. India have found it tough to face a left-armer over the years, and Starc can become a game-changer against them.

11. Adam Zampa :

Adam Zampa is the specialist spinner in the team for the visitors and has done a decent job. He has taken three wickets so far but has had success against India in the past. With the pitches in India helping spinners, Zampa's role can become more important. A leg-spinner can be a wicket-taking option, and Zampa is certainly among those kinds of bowlers.
