Australia will face Sri Lanka in match 14 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Lucknow.

The start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 hasn't been as the five-time champions Australia would have liked. They have lost both of their opening games of the tournament, that too, without much fighting. But before it gets too late, Australia must come into their own.

Pat Cummins and his men will face Sri Lanka in the next game, who are also having a similar kind of performance in this tournament and have lost both of their matches. But Australia have a great chance to end this win-less streak and register their first win of the tournament. We will talk about the predicted playing XI for Australia in Lucknow.

AUS vs SL: Australia's Predicted playing XI vs Sri Lanka

1. David Warner :

David Warner has been in good form but looked pretty rusty in the last game against South Africa. But he is too good of a player to bounce back. Australia can expect him to fire at the top, and he can help Australia win their first game of the tournament on Monday in Lucknow.

2. Mitchell Marsh :

The form of Mitchell Marsh at the top is a big concern for Australia because whenever they have done well in the recent past, Marsh has played a big role in that. So he is a very valuable player at the top, and we might see him playing some impactful innings soon. He can take advantage of inexperienced Sri Lankan bowling attack in Lucknow.

3. Steve Smith :

Steve Smith is the backbone of this middle-order and has been their best player when it comes to pressure situations. He has gotten starts in both games this tournament but hasn't converted them into big ones. However, he will be keen to play a big innings against Sri Lanka and take his team to victory.

4. Marnus Labuschagne :

Marnus Labuschagne was not in plans for the World Cup but made his place after some good performances in the ODI series against South Africa. And he has always grabbed the opportunity with both hands. This tournament as well, he has played some useful innings in both games, but he will eagerly be waiting for a big innings, which we can see against Sri Lanka.

5. Glenn Maxwell :

Glenn Maxwell will have a duel role in the game against Lucknow. He will be very important with the bat to take Australian innings together and score some crucial runs on tough pitch. But his role with the ball will also be important. He can play the role of second spinner and can trouble Sri Lankans.

6. Josh Inglis:

Josh Inglis made his World Cup debut against South Africa and got out to a peach of a delivery from Kagiso Rabada. But he is a pretty special talent who can be pretty aggressive and can take the game away in a span of a few overs. Australia will like him to play his natural game and help his team win the game.

7. Marcus Stoinis :

Marcus Stoinis got a controversial decision against him in the last game. But him batting at No. 7 gives great depth to the batting-order for Australia. Lucknow is his home ground in IPL, and he is aware of the pitch conditions and can be pretty effective for his team on Monday against Sri Lanka.

8. Mitchell Strac :

Mitchell Strac has been the stand-out player so far for Australia. He has scored crucial runs down the order and picked up a few important wickets with the ball. But we are yet to see the best of Starc, and he is the biggest match-winner with the ball on this team. We might get that impact on Monday.

9. Pat Cummins (C) :

Australian skipper, Pat Cummins, has looked off-colours in both games, and that is one of the reasons that Australia have struggled. But we might see him getting into the groove in this important game. Cummins has been a consistent performer and will look to deliver a match-winning performance in Lucknow against Sri Lanka in the coming game.

10. Josh Hazlewood :

Josh Hazlewood has been good so far with the ball, and batters aren't able to score off him. He has a role and has been playing it pretty well. Hazlewood will be a hard bowler to play against. He can remove a couple of batters from Sri Lankan top-order, which can put pressure on them.

11. Adam Zampa :

Adam Zampa is the only specialist spinner in this Australian team and has a very important role. But he has missed his mark in both games and has gone for some runs. But with a must-win contest, we can expect him to do well with a not-very-experienced Sri Lankan batting-order.
