Australia will kick-off their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Oman on 6th June, 2024.
Men’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 schedule has been announced by International Cricket Council (ICC), placing Australia in group B alongside England, Scotland, Oman, and Namibia. This edition introduces a fresh format, accommodating 20 teams for the first time, organized into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will move on to the Super 8 stage, which will be followed by a division into two groups of four. The subsequent top two teams from these groups will then advance to the semi-finals, and then will go on to play the finals.
Australia had an extraordinary 2023, clinching both major ICC titles. Their cricket skills helped them triumph over India in the finals of both World Test Championship 2023 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Aussies, with a rich T20 history, have reached the finals twice, in 2010 and 2021, emerging victorious in the latter.
Big match against England on 8th June
Australia will kick off their campaign in the tournament on June 5 against Oman at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. This encounter sets the stage for Australia’s T20 campaign, providing an initial test against a less experienced team, Oman.
On June 8, Australia will face the cricketing giants, England, in a much-anticipated match at the same venue, Kensington Oval. The clash against England, a team with its own T20 history, is sure to be a highlight of the group stage, leaving fans with intense cricketing action. Australia will continue their group stage journey with matches against Namibia on June 11 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua, and against Scotland on June 15 at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
If Australia manage to reach the top two spots in group stage they will qualify for the Super 8 round.
