Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood return as Australia announce squads for T20I and ODI series against South Africa

Australia and South Africa will play three T20Is and three ODIs in August.

Australia have announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball series against South Africa. Both sides will clash in a three-match T20I and three-match ODI series in August. Mitchell Marsh will lead the hosts in both series, with Pat Cummins, who is the ODI captain, being rested.

The South Africa tour of Australia 2025 will commence with the T20Is, beginning on August 10 at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin. The second game will take place at the same venue on August 12, followed by the final game to be played on August 16 at Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns.

The three ODI games will take place on August 19, 22, and 24. The venue of the opening match is Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns. The next two games will be played at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.

ODI squad: Mitchell Marsh (C), Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Lance Morris, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Short, Adam Zampa.

T20I squad: Mitchell Marsh (C), Sean Abbott, Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matt Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Short, Adam Zampa.

Notably, Mitchell Owen has earned his first ODI call-up in the series. Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood have returned to the T20I and ODI squads after being rested in the recent T20I series against the West Indies.

The Micthell Marsh-led side recently showed a wonderful form in a five-match T20I series against the West Indies. They won all the games to complete a 5-0 whitewash in the away series.

On the other hand, South Africa played a tri-series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe in their previous campaign. They reached the final but lost to the Black Caps in a nail-biting clash.
