Over the years, Australia have produced many incredible bowlers who have dominated international cricket with their skills and consistency. Among the top 20 all-time highest wicket-takers in international cricket, four hail from Australia.
If we look at the top wicket-takers for Australia in international cricket, eight bowlers have scalped 500 or more wickets. Moreover, four Australian bowlers have clinched more than 700 wickets in their international cricket careers. Spinner Nathan Lyon grabs the fifth spot on this list. The right-arm spinner has so far captured 592 wickets in 170 international games. Lyon has clinched 562 wickets in 139 tests, 29 scalps in 29 ODIs, and one wicket in two T20Is so far. A regular member of Australia’s test side, Lyon last featured in T20Is in 2018 and ODIS in 2019.
4. Brett Lee – 718

Former pacer Brett Lee played for Australia from 1999 to 2012. During his international career, the right-arm pacer scalped 718 wickets in 322 international games. Lee picked 310 wickets in 76 tests, 380 wickets in 221 ODIs, and 28 scalps in 25 T20Is.
3. Mitchell Starc – 725

Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc accounts for 725 wickets in international cricket. He is the third-highest wicket-taker for Australia. The lanky pacer has so far taken 402 scalps in 100 tests, 244 wickets in 127 ODIs, and 79 wickets in 65 T20Is. Starc is a regular member of the Australian team across all three formats.
2. Glenn McGrath – 948

Former Australian seamer Glenn McGrath occupies the second spot on this list with 948 wickets. During his international career from 1993 to 2007, the right-arm seamer picked 563 wickets in 124 tests and 380 scalps in 249 ODIs and five wickets in two T20Is for Australia. Overall, he picked 949 wickets in international cricket, with 948 coming for Australia and one for ICC World ODI XI.
1. Shane Warne – 999

Late Shane Warne is one amongst two bowlers to have taken more than 1000 wickets in international cricket. He finished his career as Australia’s highest wicket-taker in international cricket with 999 scalps to his name. He picked 708 wickets in 145 tests and 291 wickets in 193 ODIs for Australia.
While he picked 999 wickets for Australia, Warne picked two wickets while playing for ICC World ODI XI. With 1001 wickets to his name, Warne is also the second-highest wicket-taker in international cricket.
