Australian Women are currently at top of the points table in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

In what has been the most shocking incident, two players from the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, who are here in India for ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, were molested in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Thursday, October 23. As per the local police, a man on the motorcycle stalked and molested them.

The incident happened on Khajrana Road when the Australian Women’s cricket team players were heading towards a cafe from their team hotel. As they were walking, a man on a motorcycle started following them. He allegedly touched one of them inappropriately and rode off.

The accused was identified as Aqeel Khan, who is a local criminal in Indore. As he molested the cricketers, they were quick to contact their team’s security officer, Danny Simmons, who called the local security officers and dispatched a vehicle for assistance.

The case was reported with Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra, who met the two players and recorded their statements, registering a FIR under section 74 (use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the MIG police station.

The police stated that a bystander noted the number of the accused’s motorcycle, which helped them arrest Aqeel Khan. The police added that he already has criminal cases registered against him, and further investigation into the incident is underway.

“Khan has prior criminal cases registered against him, and an investigation is on in the case,” said police.
