Another low for Babar Azam! Star batter equals record for most ducks by a Pakistani in T20Is

Babar Azam achieved the record in the last league game against Sri Lanka of the T20I tri-series.

Babar Azam, a standout batsman for Pakistan, had an unforgettable night in Rawalpindi on Thursday. With another duck, he now shares the record for most ducks by a Pakistani in T20 internationals with Umar Akmal and Saim Ayub.

In the sixth game of the current T20I tri-series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the 31-year-old was dismissed for a two-ball duck during the frantic chase.

Sri Lanka was asked to bat first by Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and posted 184/5 in 20 overs. Kamil Mishara starred with 76 in 48 balls with six fours and three sixes, while Kusal Mendis made 40 in 23 balls with six fours and one six.

Janith Liyanage made 24*, while captain Dasun Shanaka made 17 runs. For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed took two wickets, while Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub took one wicket each.  

Babar Azam becomes the Pakistani batter with the most ducks in T20Is

Pakistan didn’t have the best start in the chase, as Sahibzada Farhan made 9 and star batter Babar Azam fell for a two-ball duck, dismissed LBW by Dushmantha Chameera. Though Salman Agha made 63*, Usman Khan made 33, and Mohammad Nawaz made 27, Pakistan could only muster 178/7 and lost the game by 6 runs.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will now face off in the final of the T20I tri-series that will be played in Rawalpindi on November 29.

Babar’s 10th T20I duck tied him with Saim Ayub and Umar Akmal at the top of Pakistan’s undesirable list, adding to the moment’s historic significance.

Former Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka, who has the record with 15 T20I ducks, is at the top of the undesired list overall. While former India captain Rohit Sharma finished his career with 12, six players are at 13.
