PAK vs BAN: Babar Azam eyes this major World Test Championship record in Bangladesh test series

Babar Azam has a stunning average of 55.43 in the ICC World Test Championship till now.

Star Pakistan batsman Babar Azam will be aiming for a massive World Test Championship (WTC) record in the upcoming two-match test series against the Bangladesh cricket team.

The first match of the series will get underway on August 21 and the second test on August 30. Both Pakistan vs Bangladesh test matches will be hosted at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Originally, the National Stadium in Karachi was scheduled to host the second test, but due to renovation work in the stadium, the match has been shifted to Rawalpindi Stadium.

Babar Azam can become the first Pakistan batter to reach 3000 runs in WTC

The 29-year-old Babar Azam is just 339 runs away from becoming the first Pakistan batter to achieve the landmark of 3000 runs in the ICC World Test Championship history.

Currently, the veteran batter has played 29 matches and scored 2661 runs at a superb average of 55.43. Babar has also hit eight hundreds and 15 half-centuries in the WTC tournament till now.

The stylish batter Babar has a chance to join Joe Root, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and  Ben Stokes who have already reached the 3,000-run landmark mark in the WTC tournament.

Babar will also become the first Asian batter to reach this 3000-run milestone in the WTC. Among Asian batters, behind Babar is Indian test captain Rohit Sharma (2552), Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne (2319) and Virat Kohli with 2235 runs.
