BAN vs NZ: Bangladesh playing XI vs New Zealand, 2nd ODI, 2023 - Predicted

Bangladesh will face New Zealand in the second ODI on September 23 in Dhaka.

Some of the last few series are underway before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. None of the participating teams want to leave anything before the mega event starts, and we are having some consistent cricket at the moment. One such ODI series is underway in Bangladesh between the hosts and New Zealand. The first ODI of the series was washed out on September 21 in Dhaka.

New Zealand batted for 33.4 overs and were at 136/5 before the rain washed away remainder of the game. The second ODI will take place on Saturday at the same venue. Bangladesh looked good in the first game and will look to repeat that in the second. Here we will talk about the predicted playing XI for Bangladesh for the second ODI.

BAN vs NZ: Bangladesh’s Predicted playing XI vs New Zealand

1. Litton Das (c):

Litton Das was back as a captain of Bangladesh in the first ODI and did a pretty good job with the bowling changes. Apart from captaincy, his main role is to open the innings and put pressure on the opposition. He is a free-flowing batter who can demolish any bowling attack if he gets set. Litton will look to do the same against Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, and Lockie Ferguson in the second game.

2. Tamim Iqbal :

Veteran opener Tamim Iqbal made his comeback for Bangladesh after an injury in the first ODI, but that game was washed out. He will be keen to get on the field and get a bat on his hands, and this is a great chance against some good Kiwi bowlers. Tamim will be eager to get some runs before the start of the World Cup 2023.

3. Tanzid Hasan :

Tanzid Hasan was given the opportunity to bat at No. 3, and he is likely to continue. He has played a couple of ODIs but is still pretty new on the international stage. The left-hander is temperamentally strong and can bat as per the situation, which is why he is part of the squad. Being a left-hander, he can look to tackle Boult.

4. Soumya Sarkar :

Another veteran batter making his comeback is Soumya Sarkar. The all-rounder is pretty solid at batting and has done well in the past. But bad form kept him away from the team for a year or two. But he is back and will be looking to make his presence felt on the team. Not to forget, he can bowl at a useful medium pace on the tricky Dhaka track.

5. Mahmudullah :

Bangladesh brought Mahmudullah back into the squad to add experience, and that is his role in the team. A good series can help him make a place in the World Cup squad. So we will look to put all the efforts here. Mahmudullah has won a number of games previously, and his all-round skills will be important for his team.

6. Towhid Hridoy :

Towhid Hridoy is the in-form batter in the current Bangladeshi squad and is coming off two consecutive half-centuries in the last two innings he played against Sri Lanka and India, respectively. He is confident and showed great maturity. His ability to take on spinners and change gears when required makes him the right player for the middle order.

7. Nurul Hasan (wk) :

Nurul Hasan has been added to the team in place of Mushfiqur Rahim in this series. That means it is another chance given to him, and it will be a big series for him. He has played a few good knocks in the past, and an ODI average of 82.5 speaks volumes about his ability. Well, Bangladesh will hope that he can do well as a finisher, for which he is on the team.

8. Mahedi Hasan :

Bangladesh have produced many spin-bowling all-rounders in this game. Mahedi Hasan is another example of this. He bowled seven overs, gave away just 27 runs, and restricted the Kiwi batters in the middle overs. He was unlucky not to have a wicket. But in the next game, Mehedi will be looking to make an impact for sure.

9. Nasum Ahmed :

Nasum Ahmed is the premier spinner in the team at the moment, and he troubled the Kiwi batters in the last game with his variety. In 8 overs, he bowled three maidens and took two wickets for just 21 runs. Kiwi batters found it difficult to bat against him, and one can expect the same kind of performance from Nasum in the second ODI.

10. Tanzim Hasan Sakib :

Another youngster that impressed everyone with his debut performance was Tanzim Hasan Sakib. He made his debut against India and dismissed Rohit Sharma for a two-ball duck in his first international over. He also looked decent in the first ODI against New Zealand before rain stopped the play. Tanzim will be keen to bowl in the second ODI because the overcast conditions will suit him more. He can remove a few from the top to put pressure on the Kiwis.

11. Mustafizur Rahman :

In simple words, Mustafizur Rahman made the life hell of the Kiwi batters in his opening spell in the first ODI. He bowled seven overs for 3/27 and was looking lethal, which is angle and change-ups. New Zealand found it difficult to bat against him, and he can make a big difference in the second ODI as well.
