Bangladesh are placed in Group C in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and will play their first game against West Indies.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have decided not to send their team to India for ICC T20 World Cup 2026 next month, according to a report by Cricbuzz. The report also suggested that BCB earlier decided to send letters to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to know about the security status in India.

However, they changed their mind in a board meeting on Sunday, January 4, and have decided that Bangladesh Cricket Team will not travel to India for the ICC tournament. Moreover, BCB are expected to release an official statement in this regard soon.

Additionally, BCB have also revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) given to pacer Mustafizur Rahman to play in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were facing flak for inducting the senior pacer into their squad for IPL 2026 in the aftermath of the death of Indian businessman Khokon Das in Bangladesh.

He was beaten and set ablaze by a mob in Bangladesh, and his death triggered widespread protests in both countries. After facing criticisms, KKR released Rahman from their squad. Hence, BCB revoked the NoC given to him to play for IPL 2026 and he won’t be able to play in the tournament even if another team picks him.

While the reports were circulating all around the internet, BCB also released an official statement related to the same. They have requested ICC to change their venue in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Bangladesh are placed in Group C in ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Bangladesh are placed in Group C in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and will face West Indies in their first game on February 7- the opening day of the tournament. The match is scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Their next two games are also scheduled to be played at the same venue, while their last match of the group stage against Nepal is set to take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

However, in the current scenario, Bangladesh might play all of their games in Sri Lanka- a strategy used by Pakistan. The Men in Green have refused to travel in India, and all of their games will take place in Sri Lanka. Moreover, if they reach the semi-finals or finals, then those games will also be played in Sri Lanka.
