The ICC Cricket World Cup has seen some amazing batting performances over the years. Among these impressive achievements, one of the most prestigious records is the ability of batsmen to consistently shine on the global stage by scoring runs in a consistent basis. Some batsmen have hit centuries and have been able to hit 3 or more centuries in a single edition. This list highlights the extraordinary talents who have stepped up during crucial stages.

Now let's delve into the list of batsmen who have scored three or more centuries in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

1. Mark Waugh - 3 (1996) :

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 1996, Australian star Mark Waugh ended up as the second highest run-scorer of the tournament with 484 runs to his name in 7 innings, behind Sachin Tendulkar. In seven innings, Waugh managed to hit 3 centuries in the tournament. He became first ever batsman to hit 3 centuries in a single edition of ICC Cricket World Cup.

He scored 130 against Kenya, 126 against India and 110 against New Zealand.

2. Sourav Ganguly - 3 (2003) :

In the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, Sourav Ganguly scored a lot of runs and ended up as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 465 runs in 11 innings. The only person who scored more runs than him was Sachin Tendulkar. What's even more impressive was that Ganguly managed to score 3 centuries in this tournament. He became the second player to do this in the single edition of ICC Cricket World Cup.

He achieved this incredible feat by scoring 112 runs against Namibia, 107 runs against Kenya and 111 runs again when playing against Kenya in the semi-final.

3. Matthew Hayden - 3 (2007) :

During the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, Matthew Hayden was the leading run-scorer in the tournament, amassing a total of 659 runs in 10 innings. He achieved this by scoring 3 centuries in those 10 innings. This made him only the third batsman ever to accomplish this feat in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

His centuries came in the form of 101 runs against South Africa, a very impressive 158 runs against West Indies and 103 runs against New Zealand.

4. Kumar Sangakkara - 4 (2015) :

In the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Kumar Sangakkara had an outstanding performance. He managed to score a total of 541 runs in just 7 innings, which made him the second-highest scorer in the tournament, with Martin Guptill being the only one to surpass him in runs. Sangakkara scored 4 centuries in those 7 innings, making him the first ever batsman to score four centuries in a single edition of ICC Cricket World Cup. He also became the first ever batsman to score 4 ODI centuries in 4 consecutive matches, a truly remarkable feat.

His remarkable centuries included an unbeaten 105 against Bangladesh, 117 not out against England, 104 against Australia and 124 against Scotland.

5. David Warner - 3 (2019) :

In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, David Warner had a remarkable performance. He scored a total of 647 runs in 10 innings, narrowly missing the top spot as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, with just 1 run less than Rohit Sharma. In those 10 innings, Warner managed to score 3 centuries, which is a significant achievement.

He scored 107 runs against Pakistan, 166 runs against Bangladesh and 122 runs against South Africa.

6. Rohit Sharma - 5 (2019) :

In the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, Rohit Sharma delivered an exceptional performance. He accumulated a total of 648 runs in 9 innings, making him the highest run-scorer in the tournament. He managed to score 5 centuries in those 9 innings, setting a historic record as the first ever batsman to achieve this in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

He scored an unbeaten 122 against South Africa, 140 against Pakistan, 102 against England, 104 against Bangladesh and 103 against Sri Lanka.

7. Quinton de Kock - 4 (2023) :

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, outgoing South African opener Quinton de Kock has been in outstanding form. He has already accumulated 531* runs in just 7* innings, making him the current top run-scorer of the tournament. He has scored 4 centuries in the tournament.

He scored 100 against Sri Lanka, 109 against Australia, an impressive 174 against Bangladesh and another ton against New Zealand in Pune.

8. Rachin Ravindra - 3 (2023)

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra has been in an excellent form. Making his World Cup debut, he began the campaign with a century (123*) against England. He has scored an impressive 523 runs including 3 centuries and two fifties in just 8 innings

His exceptional performances include scoring 123 not out against England in Ahmedabad, 116 against Australia in Dharamsala and 108 against Pakistan in Bengaluru.

9. Virat Kohli - 3 (2023):

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Virat Kohli has displayed exceptional form, marking his fourth ODI World Cup appearance with three centuries. Leading the tournament's scoring charts, Kohli has amassed an impressive 711 runs in 10 matches, making him the first player to exceed the 700-run milestone in an ICC Cricket World Cup.

His noteworthy innings include an unbeaten 103 against Bangladesh in Pune, 101 not out against South Africa in Kolkata, and a pivotal 117 against New Zealand in the semi-final in Mumbai, where he achieved his 50th century in ODI cricket, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI tons.
