Triple tons are the most special innings for any batter in test cricket. Getting to a 300 run score requires a great amount of concentration, determination and skill in test cricket. Virender Sehwag and Karun Nair are the only two Indian players to have this special batting feat in test cricket.
Out of 26, Only four batters have gone past the triple ton mark more than once in their career. Former West Indian skipper Brian Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in test cricket through his second triple century in tests. Apart from Lara, there are three more players with two triple centuries in test cricket. Let’s have a look at the List of batters to hit two triple centuries (300) in test cricket.
1 . Sir Don Bradman (Australia)
Former Australian batter Sir Don Bradman is rated as the best-ever test batter in the world. Sir Don holds numerous batting feats to his name. One of them is to score two triple centuries in test cricket. Bradman hit his first triple ton (334) against England in 1930 at Headingley.
His second triple century (304) came against the same opposition at the same venue in 1934. Don Bradman went close to his third, but remained unbeaten on 299 against South Africa in 1932 at the Adelaide Oval.
2. Virender Sehwag (India)
Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag is the only Indian in this list to score two triple centuries in his test career. Sehwag was close to becoming the only batter with three triple tons, but Muttiah Muralitharan ruined his chances of creating history.
Virender Sehwag’s first triple ton (309) came against Pakistan in 2004 at Multan Cricket Stadium. Sehwag’s second triple ton (319) came at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai against South Africa in 2008.
3. Chris Gayle (West Indies)
Former West Indian opener Chris Gayle played 103 test matches in his career and went on to score two triple centuries. Gayle’s first triple century came against South Africa at St. John’s in 2005. Gayle scored 317 runs against the Proteas.
