Brisbane Heat defeated Sydney Sixers by 54 runs to win the BBL 2023-24.

In a thrilling final of the BBL 2023-24 at Sydney, Brisbane Heat clinched their second Big Bash League (BBL) title, first being in the 2012-13 edition. Sydney Sixers won the toss and opted to bowl first, Heat posted a challenging total of 166/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Josh Brown’s explosive 53 and Matt Renshaw’s quick 40 were instrumental in their innings. Sean Abbott starred with the ball for Sydney Sixers, claiming four wickets for 32 runs.

Chasing 167 for victory, Sixers faltered under the pressure of the final. Spencer Johnson’s four-wicket haul for Heat wreaked havoc, restricting Sixers to just 112 in 17.3 overs. Despite Moises Henriques’ resilient 25, Sixers couldn’t match the required run rate. Brisbane Heat emerged victorious by 54 runs, securing the BBL 2023-24 title.

BBL 2023-24: Most Runs

Adelaide Strikers skipper Mathew Short ended up as the leading run-scorer of the BBL 2023-24 with 541 runs. Brisbane Heat’s opener Josh Brown scored a brilliant 53 in the final against Sydney Sixers. He ended the season as the second leading run-scorer with 366 runs. Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie ended as third-highest run-scorer with 334 runs. Adelaide Strikers’ Chris Lynn is fourth in this list with 304 runs. Perth Scorchers’ Laurie Evans is fifth in the list with 292 runs.

Brisbane Heat’s Xavier Bartlett ended up as the highest wicket-taker of the season with 20 wickets to his name. He picked up two wickets against Sydney Sixers in the final. His teammate Spencer Johnson, who picked four crucial wickets in the final ended up as the second highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 19 scalps to his name. Sixers’ Ben Dwarshuis ended up third in the list with 17 wickets. At fourth is another Brisbane Heat bowler, Paul Walter with 17 scalps. Perth Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff finished with 16 wickets at the fifth spot.
