Adelaide Strikers defeated Perth Scorchers by 50 runs in BBL 2023-24 knockout game at Optus Stadium.

Leg-spinner Cameron Boyce and Lloyd Pope’s brilliant spell in the middle overs knocked Perth Scorchers out of the BBL 2023-24. Adelaide Strikers have defeated Perth Scorchers comprehensively at Optus Stadium in Perth and qualified for the challenger clash against Brisbane Heat on Monday. Perth Scorchers’ campaign comes to end after a dismal batting performance against Adelaide spinners Lloyd Pope (4/24) and Cameron Boyce (3/20).

Batting first, Adelaide Strikers scored 155 runs in 20 overs. Jake Weatherald once again played a magnificent game changing knock in the ongoing BBL season. Henry Thornton (28) and Ben Menanti (23) also contributed to Adelaide’s total and took them to a comfortable score at Optus Stadium in Perth. Scorchers did get off to a great start but they lost the battle against Adelaide Strikers leg-spin attack.

BBL 2023-24: Playoff

Adelaide Strikers have qualified for the challengers game and they will take on Brisbane Heat on Monday at Heritage Bank Stadium in Carrara. Winner of the challenger game on Monday will take on Sydney Sixers in the BBL 2024 finals scheduled for 24th January at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Defending champions Perth Scorchers are knocked out of the tournament after facing a big defeat against Adelaide Strikers at Optus Stadium in Perth.

BBL 2023-24: Most Runs

Top-five leading run-scorer witnessed no change as there was not a new entry after the end of knockouts round on Saturday. Adelaide Strikers skipper Mathew Short is still leading the chart with 522 runs. He scored 13 runs against Scorchers. Perth Scorchers Aaron Hardie is second with 334 runs, he scored only six runs against Strikers. Strikers’ Chris Lynn is third in this list with 304 runs. Perth Scorchers Laurie Evans is fourth on the list with 292 runs. Melbourne Stars opener Beau Webster is at fifth place with 262 runs.

Brisbane Heat’s Xavier Bartlett is still leading the top wicket-taker tally with 17 wickets. Sydney Sixers Ben Dwarshuis is now second with 16 wicket. Perth Scorchers’ left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff is third with 16 wickets, he took one wicket against Strikers in eliminator game. Adelaide Strikers Jamie Overton is fourth on the table with 16 wickets. Brisbane Heat’s Paul Walter is fifth with 15 wickets.
