Jalal Yunus becomes the first member of the BCB board to resign following a change in the government.

In a significant development at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus resigned from his position with immediate effect on August 19. Jalal Yunus is also the director of the BCB. This development comes after the government change in the country.

Since last month, Bangladesh has experienced severe social unrest with students protesting on the streets which led to a change in government.

The political tension escalated so quickly that the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave Bangladesh after giving resignation from her post.

After Hasina’s resignation, an interim government has been formed to run the country but things remain in a dire state in Bangladesh.

With a new interim government running the country, it was expected that changes would be seen in the BCB board as well since it’s heavily influenced by the previous government.

BCB director Jalal becomes the first official from the current board to resign from his position. “I have resigned from the board for the interest of cricket,” Jalal told Cricbuzz.

It has also been learned that board president Nazmul Hassan, who had fled away to London, is ready to quit from his position.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh cricket team is gearing up for a two-match test series in Pakistan. The series will start on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
