National selectors will announce the World Cup squad on 5th September.

Team India have remained empty-handed in ICC events for the last 10 years. They have not won any major ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy win in England. In the last 10 years, India have lost four major trophy finals, most recently in the ICC World Test Championship 2023 at The Oval against Australia. Fans are expecting captain Rohit Sharma to end their wait for an ICC title in the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India. The BCCI, along with the National Cricket Academy (NCA), prepared a module to get the Indian squad ready for the big event. India will be play the Asia Cup in September and then go on to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in October and November.

9 Hours of sleep, walking, and many more…

The National Cricket Academy has prepared a roadmap to keep Indian players fit for the next 3–4 months, keeping the World Cup as their only target. They have prepared a fitness plan for the players based on a daily routine to follow after West Indies tour. The program suggests to players their daily protein intake, gym sessions, walking, and running, followed by swimming and yoga sessions, and also the amount of sleep. They are all advised to get nine hours of sleep in their daily routine. According to a media report, it was also part of a 13-day fitness program for the players who were set to be picked in the Asia Cup squad and not part of the Ireland tour.

As quoted by the Indian Express, A BCCI official said, “This is a special program designed for players, as we want them fit for the next two months. The trainer will come to know who has followed the program and who hasn’t. The team management will then take a call on what to do with players who have not followed their program.” It is also said that the fitness reports of all the players will be submitted to the selection committee before they take a final call on the final 15-members for the World Cup. Ajit Agarkar has informed us that he will hold a press conference on September 5 and reveal the World Cup squad.

All the top players, including captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, will be undergoing a complete body test, including a blood test, when they come for the Asia Cup’s preparation camp in Alur, Karnataka, starting on Thursday. The trainers will be assessing the fitness of all the players before they depart for the Asia Cup tournament. India’s opening game in the Asia Cup will be against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele Stadium in Kandy. They are part of group A, along with Pakistan and Nepal.
