BCCI announces appointments of Women's & Junior cricket selection committee

The BCCI, on Monday, 19th June announced the appointments of Women's & Junior cricket selection committee.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the remaining position in the selection panel for Women’s cricket and Junior Cricket. The Cricket advisory committee consisting of former cricketers like Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Pranjape were part of the screening process for the selection panel appointment. They have picked Shayama Dey Shaw in the Women’s selection panel while VS Thilak Naidu in the Junior cricket selection committee. Neetu David will be chairing the Women’s selection panel and VS Thilak Naidu will be appointed as Junior cricket committee chairman. 

Know about the newly appointed members

Former Indian women’s cricketer Shyama Dey Shaw has served as Bengal selector for two terms and has played cricket for India and played 3 Tests and 5 ODIs. She made her debut at the age of 24 in 1995 and was part of the Indian team for just 2 years. A left-arm medium pace bowler, Shyama didn’t had a great outing with the ball with team India as he could only pick up 5 wickets in 3 tests. As a left-hand batter, she did had a decent 3 games but was not enough for making herself a member of the eleven for long. 

VS Thilak Naidu has been a known figure for everyone who have followed Domestic cricket extensively. Thilak Naidu has played for Karnataka and South Zone in Indian domestic cricket. He has had a 10-year long journey in Indian cricket as a professional cricket player. Starting from 1999, Naidu played 93 first class games for Karnataka and South Zone and scored 4386 runs. He has also served on the KSCA Junior selection committee during the 2015-16 season.
