BCCI to compensate venues which missed out on hosting Cricket World Cup 2023 - Reports

10 venues were picked by the BCCI to host the main event in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
There was a big controversy around the Cricket World Cup venue selection when Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer objected to snubbing PCA Stadium in Mohali. Later, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla clarified the issue and said other centres will be given matches to host bilateral series. Now, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to the state associations as a compensation plan. 12 Venues are picked to host the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023. 10 of them will be hosting the main event while 2 will be hosting warm-up games. According to reports stated by PTI, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to urge WC hosting venues to voluntarily forego their turn to host an ODI.
Jay Shah writes a letter to state associations
In his letter, BCCI secretary Jay Shah wrote, “During our meeting, I had proposed a solution to ensure a fair distribution of matches for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. I requested the hosting associations, with the exception of Assam and Kerala, who were allocated warm-up matches, to voluntarily forego their turn to host an ODI during the bilateral international season. This proposal was put forth in order to accommodate the state associations that unfortunately missed out on hosting matches of the Cricket World Cup. I am pleased to inform you that the proposal received unanimous agreement and support from all the participating associations”.
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will be hosting three main event games along with warm-ups. Rest all the other 9 venues will be hosting five games each. Guwahati and Trivandrum will be hosting the Warm-up games. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow, Pune, Dharamshala, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad are picked as main event venues. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium will be hosting the tournament's opener, final, and the big business India vs Pakistan encounter. Mumbai and Kolkata will be hosting the World Cup semifinals.
