BCCI contracts 2024-25: List of players with grade A+ contracts

Players with grade A+ BCCI contract earn INR 7 crores per year.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on April 21, 2025, announced the new list of players of the Indian team (men’s) for the central contracts for the 2024-25 season. A total of 34 Indian players were given the central contracts by the BCCI on Monday.
The BCCI has four categories on its central contract lists: A+, A, B, and C. The A+ rating recognizes all-format regulars, whereas the C grade recognizes recent debutants across formats. The retainership price for the A+ grade is ₹7 crore, while those for A, B, and C are ₹5 crore, ₹3 crore, and ₹1 crore respectively.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja were the only four players to reach the A+ category. Several young and promising cricket players, including Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Rajat Patidar, were also awarded their first contracts.
Due to several disciplinary concerns, the BCCI excluded Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the central contracts last year. However, Kishan has shown encouraging signs in the current IPL 2025 season, but Iyer has already made his comeback to the Indian squad in the ODI format.
As Ishan was moved to the Grade C bracket, Iyer, who really played a significant part in the India Champions Trophy-winning campaign, returned to the Grade B division.
List of players with grade A+ contracts
There are only four players in the Grade A+ contracts handed out by BCCI on April 21, 2025. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. As per the BCCI pay grade, these four players will receive INR 7 crores per year for their central contracts.
There were speculations that the BCCI might rethink the Grade A+ contracts of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. This was because BCCI gives players graded contracts on basis of the formats they play in for India.
Players featuring in all three formats regularly for India are preferred in higher grades, and players featuring in two or one format are usually placed in A or B grades for central contracts.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I format after India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. Hence, it was expected that all three might be dropped a grade as they no longer play all three formats.
But the BCCI have decided to keep the senior trio in the top-most grade as they have served India for more than 15 years each and have a grand stature, especially Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
