BCCI announces India's home season 2023-24 schedule: 3 ODIs, 8 T20Is and 5 tests to be played

India will play a total of 3 ODIs, 8 T20Is and 5 tests in the 2023-24 home season excluding the World Cup 2023.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of their home seasons starting in September 2023. India will also host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in October - November. India will be starting their home season with a three-match ODI series against Australia in the last week of September as preparatory games for the upcoming big event in India.
India’s three-match ODI series against Australia will begin on 22nd September at PCA Stadium in Mohali. After this and the World Cup, India will also host Australia for a five-match T20I series in November - December, three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in mid-January, and a five-match Test series against England from January which will end in March.
Only three World Cup venues have got the opportunity to host the bilateral games along with Cricket World Cup games. Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium will host the final T20I game against Afghanistan on 17th January, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will host the final T20I game against Australia on 3rd December, and the first test against England starting on 25th January.
Dharamshala’s HPCA Stadium will host the 5th test against England starting on 7th March 2024. These three grounds will also host the World Cup games in October and November. BCCI made that clear, stadiums missing out on World Cup games will get to host bilateral games.
Indore, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Indore, Guwahati, Trivandrum, Nagpur, and Ranchi have got the opportunity to host the visiting nations in India’s next home season. India will not be playing any ODI cricket after the Cricket World Cup 2023 and will shift their focus back to the T20 World Cup 2024 as well as in the next World Test Championship cycle.
In between the Australia and Afghanistan T20I series, India will also visit South Africa for a month-long tour in December and January. The final test against England will be played from 7th March to 11th March, which indicates that the Indian Premier League season 2024 will commence during the last week of March.
