The BCCI on Friday, 14th July has announced 15-member India women's squad for the Asian Games.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on July 14, 2023, announced the Indian women’s team squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou in China.

Cricket was part of two editions of the Asiad in 2010 and 2014, but India did not send women’s and men’s teams. After being left out in the 2018 edition in Jakarta, India are set to compete in the Asian Games after a 12-year hiatus.

The Asian Games are scheduled from September 23 to October 8 this year. India will send teams for the Asian Games cricket competition for the first time.

BCCI had sent the India Women’s team to the Commonwealth Games 2022 where they reached the finals of the event and won the silver medal. A bit more will be expected from Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. this time as they are considered to be the best team in Asia, despite the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh teams also expected to compete.

The women’s cricket tournament will take place from September 19 to 28.

“The Women’s Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 to be held from 19th September to 8th October 2023 at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The women’s cricket competition will take place from 19th-28th September 2023 in a T20 format,” BCCI said in a statement.
